Van Dam to supply and install 7.56 bar blast (!) rated doors for a Laboratory room

Van Dam is pleased to announce a contract win with Groenendijk PGN Bouw for the supply and installation of 7.56 bar blast rated doors. The doors will be installed in a catalytic laboratory building which will is currently being built for the Technical University (TU) in Delft, the Netherlands.

Van Dam has experience with supplying 10 bar blast rated doors for navy and marine vessels. However, for the construction industry, this is the highest requirements which have ever been specified for a project.

Why a new TU Delft catalytic laboratory….. The current catalytic laboratory of the Faculty of Applied Sciences is outdated and no longer fits the ambitions of the TU Delft industrial Catalysis Lab. Many types of gas pressure are required for many research assignments. The new catalyse lab is an appropriate addition to the catalyst laboratory in Applied Sciences and is inextricably linked to this.

With more than 40 years’ experience in the field of blast and explosion protection, a customized door design has been made, suitable for the project.

The scope of supply consist of the full engineering, detailed design, supply and installation of the single leaf 7.56 bar blast rated doors including sub frames and fixing materials. Installation of the doors will be done by sister company Van Dam Maintenance & Repair.

Design and fabrication of the doors is already started and installation will commence in Q3 2018.
